Some Naples, some Amalfi and a whole lot more

Now that we left Florence, our next destination was Naples. We caught a train that brought us to Naples and made it to our cute Airbnb close to the Plebiscito plaza. In a quaint area, we climbed four floors to get to a surprisingly modern and renovated little apartment.
It was time to roam the roads of Naples, eat some fried pizza and all was going well until the slight drizzle turned into a torrential downpour. After sheltering for a bit, we gave up on the rain easing and somehow made our way to the Airbnb (partially drenched).

The next morning, we slung our backpacks and started a series of train rides to Sorrento with a stop at Herculaneum. The rain caught us there again but we still managed a good number of hours exploring the ruins at Herculaneum - another city that was buried under ash during the explosion of Vesuvius in 79AD.

With wet socks and shoes and clothes, we made it to Sorrento - the home of lemons and checked into the cutest Airbnb (lemon suites). It is located right across a lemon grove and we were greeted by our host who provided us with some amazing local recommendations. We dried up and explored the cute town of Sorrento including Old Town.
After a good nights rest, we woke up late this morning (fantastic) and rented a car to drive to Positano and see the Amalfi coast. The weather was looking up so we got some fantastic views. Had some amazing juice and grabbed a bunch of oranges from a lady on the side of the road. Unfortunately a part of the road was closed off due to bridge repairs and we were bummed. But not for long! It allowed us to get back to Sorrento early so we could catch a ferry to Capri!

Capri was simply gorgeous. We climbed like 60 floors to make it to the top for the best views ever!

And then returned to Sorrento in time for a beautiful sunset with a backdrop of Vesuvius.

After a full day (including a wood inlay exhibition we happened upon), I’m going to leave you with some awesome food pics and recommendations of course!
Definitely give the Sfogliatella and Pastiera Napoletana a go when you are craving something sweet. The fried pizza was surprisingly yummy as well in Napoli. For Sorrento, get a fabulous cocktail with a dramatic ambience at D’Anton Design and Bistro and do not miss a fantastic dinner at Trattoria de Mori. We also spotted a super cute hole in wall called Gusto e Sabor. Coffee (Napoli style pulled with a lever) at Gentile coffee is not to be missed.
