The hills are alive - with the sound of music
For those of you who know me well, you know me and my family are obsessed with the sound of music. So a trip to Austria with this group could not be complete without a visit to Salzburg. Here's a quick account of how we spent the last two days.
Since we had a few hours before checking, we headed out to the Mirabell gardens which was a prime location in the filming of the do re mi song. For fans, you may recognize the horse fountain and the gardens. My dad and me hummed the song and we all experienced some pleasant childhood nostalgia while strolling through.

Next on our list was St. Peter's abbey and cemetary. Along with being a beautiful old church, the catacombs were also famtastic to check out. Here we got to see the cemetary where the scene at the end with the Von Trapp's hiding from the Nazi's was inspired by.

A quick walk then through Dom Quartier took us to the Salzburg Cathedral where a concert was just getting started. The crypt and the church are a must do. They were beautiful and so well maintained.

Lunch, checkin and it was time to check out a traditional beer hall where we grabbed some sodas (and beers for those who drank beer) along with German food under a setting sun to wind down the day.

Then this morning, we headed up the funicular to Mount untersberg for gorgeous views and pictures. It was chilly at the top but a fantastic viewpoint.

And it was time for more sound of music as we headed to Hellbrunn palace. The grounds here is where they had tea and was also where the pavilion with the famous "you are sixteen" song was shot. The grounds also had a super fun trick fountain section with fountains that tricked and sprayed you from interesting spouts with no notice. Heavy Greek mythology influence throughout that added to the ambience. A little drenched but hearts happy, it was time for a break

And we wound up the day at Fort hohensalzburg - took the funicular up to walk the courtyard. Here we had more amazing views and got to chd k out a marionette museum and armory where there were fun games to keep us engaged 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.

And that wraps the last two days. Tomorrow was a last minute addition so I'll keep the spoilers alive until my next post.
